BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team eased its way past Bluefield State in straight sets, 25-3, 25-7, 25-3, Friday night at Ned Shott Gymnasium.
The win improves Concord to 3-15 on the season. Meanwhile, BSC drops to 0-9 in 2018.
CU served up 24 services aces on the night which ties for the third most in any Division II three-set match this season. The Mountain Lions also hit a season-high .575 in the match with 27 kills and four errors in 40 attack attempts. The hitting percentage mark for Concord was the third best in any three-game match this year as well.
In the first set, the Mountain Lions jumped out to 14-1 lead before winning by 22 points. Senior middle hitter

Bluefield State hung around in the second set as the Mountain Lions led 7-5 12 points into the game, but CU ran off an 18-2 spurt to end the set. Freshman middle hitter
Olivia Houk recorded seven service aces during the run to pace the Maroon and Gray.
The third and clinching set was similar to the opening set. Up 7-3 10 points into the game, Concord wrapped up the match by recording the next 18 points. Freshman setter

Camryn Huber combined for five kills.
Rodgers led the Mountain Lions with 11 assists and five digs to go along with her eight assists.
Coulter, Heck and Lawrence each had four kills for CU. Houk and Rodgers combined for 15 of the 24 service aces for the Mountain Lions.
Concord returns home to face UVa.-Wise 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
