Concord's Comeback Comes Up Short at Wesleyan

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team was unable to come back from a 3-1 second-half deficit as it fell 3-2 to West Virginia Wesleyan in Mountain East Conference action at Culpepper Stadium Thursday night.

West Virginia Wesleyan (2-4-2, 2-4 MEC) scored the first two goals of the game over the first 23 minutes of action to grab a 2-0 advantage on Concord (1-4-1, 1-2-1 MEC). The Mountain Lions got some momentum back in the late stages of the first half as junior midfielder Courtney Skerritt buried his first goal of the season in the 40th minute to make it 2-1 Wesleyan going into halftime.

The next two goals of the contest came with two minutes of each other. The Bobcats scored in the 69th minute before sophomore midfielder Maxime Ramioulle scored his second goal of the season 1:40 after the Wesleyan goal.

In the final 10 minutes of the game, the Mountain Lions were able to get two looks at goal as  Ramioulle had a shot saved in the 85th minute and sophomore midfielder's Moulay Hassani attempt was wide of the goal mount in the final 20 seconds of the contest.

Ramioulle had two of the four shots on goal for CU while freshman defender Bruno Baptista and Skerritt had one a piece.
