Concord Scores Four in Win over Felician, 4-0

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team netted four goals in the second half to get by Felician, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field in the home opener for the program.

The Mountain Lions (2-0) peppered the goal in the first half as sophomore midfielder Mira Kontio had a shot ring off the post, a header from senior forward Pilar Elias was just high of the goal and sophomore midfielder Courtney Wallace's free kick was saved by FC's (0-2) Jamie Kazenmayer.

After several attempts to get on the board, senior midfielder Delaney Crumblish got the first CU tally with a goal in the 72nd minute. After a couple of Concord shots were blocked around the goal mouth, Crumblish squeezed a shot by Kazenmayer.

Less than five minutes later, sophomore midfielder Sarah Hill lobbed a pass over the Golden Falcons' defense onto the foot of freshman forward Kaitlyn Kerrigan who buried her first collegiate goal.

The next Mountain Lions' score was the first career multi-goal game for Crumblish. In the 81st minute, Crumblish took a pass on the left wing from Wallace and curled the goal in over the outstretched arms of Kazenmayer to bring the CU advantage to 3-0.

The final Concord score was Hill's first goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Abby Wishon served a corner kick into the middle of the box where Hill fended off the Felician defense and slipped the ball into goal in the 88th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Maher and the CU defense stymied the Golden Falcons as they did not attempt a shot on the afternoon. The Mountain Lions recorded their second straight shutout to begin the season in the process.

CU travels to Wingate 7:00 p.m. Wednesday to take on the Bulldogs.
