ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team was unable to carry its first-win set momentum over to the next three games as it fell to Charleston 23-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-16, Tuesday night in Mountain East Conference action at the Carter Center.
Charleston (5-9, 1-0 MEC) was able to take a 14-10 lead in the first set after five straight points, and continued to lead 21-19 in the set. However, the Mountain Lions (2-15, 0-3 MEC) went on a 6-2 run to end the set and grab a 1-0 lead in the match.

Alexi Pranckus finished off the set with a kill.

Sheridan Herron put CU up 7-5 in the second set, the Golden Eagles rolled off five straight points to take command of the set and even up the match at 1-1.

Ellie Lawrence provided a kill while sophomore libero
Lindsay Maddox came up with a service to ace to draw Concord within 24-23 of UC, but the game's next point belonged to UC as it took a 2-1 edge in the match.
Down 19-14 in the fourth set, Lawrence tallied one of her team-high 10 kills in the match to get the Mountain Lions within four of Charleston, however, UC reeled off a 6-1 run to end the match.
Lawrence added a hitting percentage of .300 to go along with her 10 kills. Huber recorded six kills and eight total blocks in the loss. Pranckus went for eight kills and eight digs.

Jenna Mounts rolled up 15 assists in the match.
Concord faces Bluefield State 7:00 p.m. Friday on the road.
