BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Concord University women's cross country team placed fifth at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite Friday night.Â

Bailey Knowles led the way for the Mountain Lions as she placed 20th overall and was the fourth non-Division I runner to cross the finish line in a time of 23:53 for 6,000-meters.Â

Karleigh Thompson finished with a time of 24:52 as she finished 29

Aidan Payton occupied spots 40 through 42 as they ran 25:48, 26:02 and 26:03 as the trio rounded out the scoring runners for CU. Concord accumulated 150 points and edged out King (151 points) for fifth.Â

The Mountain Lions will have the week off next weekend before traveling to the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania September 29.
