BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Salem Saturday afternoon at the Cline Memorial Complex in a non-conference contest. 
 
The Mountain Lions (3-1-1) outshot Salem (3-1) overall 21-10 and 10-4 on shots on goal, but only freshman forward 
Kaitlyn Kerrigan's tap in in the 81
stminute found the back of the net. 
 
Salem held onto a 1-0 halftime lead after scoring in the 37
thminute. 
 
CU appeared poised to tie the game early in the second half as the Mountain Lions earned a penalty kick in the 50
thminute, but sophomore midfielder 
Yasmin Mosby had her attempt saved and her follow up went high of the goal. 
 
Eight minutes after the miss from Mosby, Salem doubled its lead with a score and added a third goal in the 63
rdminute. 
 
Kerrigan's goal in the 81
stminute came after freshman forward 
Leah Foster had her initial attempt saved. 
 
Salem goalkeeper Valentina Bonaiuto made nine saves on the day.
 
Foster had four shots on goal while Kerrigan and Mosby each had two attempts on goal. 
 
Concord plays West Virginia Wesleyan in a key Mountain East Conference contest 4:00 p.m. Thursday.
