MEC TOURNAMENT SCENARIOS
Two wins by the Mountain Lions this weekend would clinch a bid in the upcoming MEC Tournament.

CU could also lock up a spot by winning just one game AND West Virginia State losing all four games to Charleston.

Concord has 16 conference wins, WVSU has 15 and UVa.-Wise starts the weekend with 14 MEC victories.

In the event of a three-way tie between CU, West Virginia State and UVa.-Wise, the Mountain Lions would be eliminated from postseason consideration.

RECORDS
In addition to its conference mark of 16-12, Concord is 24-19 this season.

UVa.-Wise is 17-25 overall and 14-14 in the MEC.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Prior to Sunday's games, eight graduating players will be honored at Anderson Field: pitcher Cody Dooley, pitcher Reece Edwards, infielder Chad Frazier, outfielder Oscar Garcia, student assistant coach Tristan McGinnis, infielder Adrian Peralta, infielder Trevor Wiersma and catcher Paul Williams.

Over the last four years, the Mountain Lions have amassed 103 wins with its current senior class.

Edwards, Frazier, Wiersma and Williams all appear in the CU record books.

Edwards is sixth in all-time appearances at Concord with 48, and needs two more appearances to become one of five players in program history with at least 50 pitching appearances in the Maroon and Gray. Last weekend, the Woodlawn, Virginia native recorded his first career hit, a two-RBI double against Charleston in a 14-6 win.

Frazier is eighth in all-time hits at CU with 226 while also appearing in the program's top ten in batting average (eighth / .364), runs scored (third / 196), triples (second / 13), stolen bases (eighth / 34) and walks (fifth / 89). Last season, Frazier became the 10th Mountain Lion to earn All-American Honors in baseball—a third selection by the Conference Commissioner's Association.

After blasting a home run versus Bluefield State Tuesday, Wiersma entered the top 10 in all-time homers at Concord with 19.

Williams joined the program's top 10 in career hits after the Charleston series with 217. Williams needs two more hits to move into ninth place at Concord. Additionally, Williams is the active leader in career at-bats with 626.

Dooley transferred to Concord prior to the 2016 season. After redshirting, the Roanoke, Virginia native has made 24 appearances in two seasons, and his career high in strikeouts came last season in relief at UVa.-Wise when he recorded six.

Garcia has played in 49 games at Concord with 33 starts at both corner outfield spots. Earlier this season at West Virginia State, Garcia collected a career-best three RBI. Four of his 10 hits in 2018 have been doubles.

After pitching in 2016 for the Maroon and Gray, McGinnis assumed a role as a student assistant coach for head coach Kevin Garrett. McGinnis' main duties within the program are the assistant pitching coach as well as coaching first base.

Peralta has started 45 games and played in a total of 68 contests. The College Park, Maryland native has two career home runs including a game-tying home run in the eighth inning last year at UVa.-Wise that helped secure the MEC South Division title for CU. Peralta is batting a career-best .313 this season in 83 at-bats this season.

The Mountain Lions have won seven of their last 10 games including a 9-6 win over Bluefield State on Tuesday. CU pounded out seven extra-base hits.

Frazier had his first career multi-home run game including a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first. Wiersma added two doubles in a single game for the second time in his career as well as his 19th career home run.

Speaking of the long ball, junior catcher / outfielder Jordan Clark recorded his 24th career home run in game three of the Charleston series to help lift CU to a 2-1 win.

Over the last 10 games, the Mountain Lions have 28 extra-base hits.

In its 2-1 win, Concord received an impressive pitching performance from junior Will Guay. The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida native struck out seven in 6.1 innings on the mound including striking out the side in the fifth inning on 11 pitches.

It was the sixth time this season Guay has fanned at least five hitters in an outing and tied for the second-highest career total in a single game.

Guay's 61 strikeouts and junior pitcher Troy Beckner's 65 strikeouts this season make them the first set of teammates to record 60 or more strikeouts in the same season at CU.

Last season, the Mountain Lions won three of four games versus UVa.-Wise, but three of the contests were decided by one run. CU won 3-2 and 16-6 at Anderson Field before the Cavaliers walked off in game three of the season 6-5.

However, Concord erased a 6-1 third inning deficit as it went on to win the fourth game 9-8 in 10 innings.

UVa.-WISE AT A GLANCE
The Cavaliers won three of four games from West Virginia Wesleyan to set up the pivotal series with Concord this weekend.

Greg Duncan is 5-4 this season with a 2.21 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 57 innings. Duncan has allowed two or fewer earned runs in five straight starts.

Brock Smith has team bests in both home runs (five) and RBI (24).

UVa.-Wise is 8-8 at home this season, but 9-17 on the road.
