ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team begins a 10-game home stand when it welcomes Glenville State to Anderson Field for a pair of doubleheader 1:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Mountain East Conference play.

RECORDS
CU is 17-16 overall and is in a three-way tie for second in the MEC South at 11-9 with UVa.-Wise and West Virginia State.
Glenville State comes into play with a mark of 12-22 overall and 9-11 in the conference.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord will be playing its first conference home games since March 31 when it played Fairmont State.
Eight of the last nine games for the Mountain Lions have been on the road with the lone home game coming against non-conference foe Winston-Salem State.
CU split a four-game series at West Virginia Wesleyan as the Maroon and Gray won games one and three of the series.
Junior catcher / outfielder
Jordan Clark led the offensive effort in game three as he hit a grand slam for the second straight season versus WVWC.
Concord's offense hit four total home runs in the series at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Junior infielder
Trevor Wiersma hit two long balls in the series while junior outfielder
Evan Webb accounted for the fourth home run.
Junior pitcher
Troy Beckner picked up his fifth win of the season in the series opener as he allowed one unearned run over six inning of work on the mound. For Beckner, it was his 14
th career win, tying him for 11
th in program history.
Additionally, Beckner improved to 4-1 in MEC games this season and lowered his conference ERA to 1.74 in 31 innings.
Sophomore pitcher
Trent Abernathy was responsible for the second CU win at WVWC as he allowed two earned runs in 5.2 innings. The Harrisonburg, Virginia native kept his record a perfect 4-0 on the season.
Over the five starts Abernathy has made this season, he has 30 strikeouts in 30 innings of work.
Senior infielder
Chad Frazier and senior catcher
Paul Williams continue to climb towards the top 10 in career hits at CU.
Frazier starts the weekend with 210 career hits while Williams has 209. Tenth place on the list is Scott Jones with 212. At WVWC, Frazier recorded a career-high three doubles in game one of the series.
The Mountain Lions and GSC split a four-game set last year at Glenville State with the Pioneers tallying walk-off wins in the first two games of the series.
CU outscored Glenville State 23-6 in the final two games of the series.
Altogether, the Maroon and Gray tallied nine home runs in the series.
Clark had five of his 13 home runs for the season at the Morris Sports Complex. Wiersma had a pair of home runs in game three of the series.
Frazier hit a ball out of the park while junior infielder
Brett Simmons recorded his first career home run last season.
Each of the last two seasons, Glenville State has won the first two games of the series with CU before the Mountain Lions have taken the final two in the set.
Over the last eight games Williams has appeared in against Glenville State, the Vinton, Virginia native is hitting .433 (13-for-30) with a home run, 11 RBI and five doubles.
GLENVILLE STATE AT A GLANCE
The Pioneers earned a split with Charleston at home last weekend as they erased a 7-1 sixth-inning deficit in game four to win 8-7.
Austin Riggleman is 3-3 on the mound for Glenville State with an ERA of 3.93. Included his victories is a no-hitter versus Wheeling Jesuit and a 3-1 victory over Charleston.
Christian Hedinger is hitting .287 for GSC with three home runs and a team-best 21 RBI.
