Box Score 2 BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team split two games at West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday afternoon as it won the first contest 11-3 before dropping the final game of the series 5-1.
The Mountain Lions are now 17-16 overall and 11-9 in the Mountain East Conference.
Game 1: Concord 11 - West Virginia Wesleyan 3
Concord scored eight runs in the first two innings of the game including six runs in its first at-bat to pull away from the Bobcats.

Jordan Clark punctuated the rally by hitting his first grand slam of the season and his second home run overall. It was the second straight season Clark has hit a grand slam against WVWC.Â

Paul Williams were in the middle of a CU rally in the second. Williams shot a single to left field to plate senior infielder
Chad Frazier while sophomore infielder
Nathan Neff circled the bases on a double from Webb.
The Mountain Lions added two more runs in the fifth on a base hit by Frazier, and senior outfielder
Oscar Garcia scored on a Wiersma single in the sixth inning.
Sophomore pitcher
Trent Abernathy improved to 4-0 on the mound as he tossed 5.2 innings. In his outing, Abernathy struck five batters and scattered two earned runs on nine hits.
Williams had three hits in the contest while Wiersma added two hits and two RBI.
Game 2: West Virginia Wesleyan 5 - Concord 1
CU's bats were quieted in the nightcap by Wesleyan's Chris Metrick who struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings.
The Bobcats scored twice in the second inning and held off a late Concord rally. Maintaining a two-run edge, WVWC added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
Back-to-back doubles from Wiersma and Clark plated a Concord run in the top of the seventh, but CU was unable to draw closer.
Wiersma followed up his game oen performance with two more hits in the second game.
Freshman utility
Anthony Stehlin (2-5) pitched 4.1 innings, giving up five runs on six hits and striking out two.
The Mountain Lions hosts Glenville State in a four-game MEC set starting 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
