Concord has an overall record of 15-14 and is 9-7 against MEC foes.
The Bobcats are 6-24 this season and 5-11 in the conference.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
The Mountain Lions resume MEC games after a Wednesday non-conference contest versus Winston-Salem State that the Mountain Lions fell in 13-6.
Over his last three games, senior outfielder
Oscar Garcia has collected six hits including two multi-hit games and career-best three RBI in game three of a MEC series at West Virginia State last weekend.
Out of the bullpen versus Winston-Salem State, sophomore pitcher
Bryson Booher recorded all three outs on strikeouts in his inning of work. The Fort Chiswell, Virginia native tied his career best in strikeouts.
Senior infielder
Chad Frazier and senior catcher
Paul Williams continue to close in on the top 10 on the all-time hits list at Concord.
Frazier tallied two hits versus Winston-Salem State while Williams had a double for his only base knock. Each player has 205 hits in their CU careers. Scott Jones is currently 10
th on the all-time hits list with 212.
At West Virginia State, sophomore pitcher
Trent Abernathy struck out eight batters in his complete-game victory during the series finale. The Harrisonburg, Virginia native finished one strikeout shy of his career high which he set earlier this season versus Wheeling Jesuit.
Last season, Concord split a four-game series with West Virginia Wesleyan at Anderson Field. In fact, each of the last two years the teams are 4-4 versus each other.
The Mountain Lions outscored WVWC 59-27 as CU won the second and fourth games of the series, 18-5 and 17-2. Wesleyan captured a pair of close wins, 10-8 and 14-12.
In last year's series, junior catcher / outfielder
Jordan Clark hit 10-for-13 with half of his hits going for extra bases including his first career grand slam in game one of the series. Clark drove in 11 runs and added three doubles and his first career triple as well.
Junior outfielder
Evan Webb hit .600 (9-for-15) against the Bobcats in 2017 as he drove in seven runs and scored eight more. Like Clark, Webb had three doubles in the series. Webb is coming off a series against West Virginia State where he batted .533 (8-for-15) with six RBI.
Frazier collected eight hits in 17 at-bats versus Wesleyan with half of his hits going for extra bases including two home runs.
At the top of Concord's order, sophomore infielder
Nathan Neff had seven hits and was on base 15 times during the four-game set with the Bobcats.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
WVWC has lost nine straight games, but five of the losses are by either one or two runs.
Greg Smith leads the Bobcats in both home runs (three) and RBI (17).
All-region reliever Chris Metrick has tossed 21.2 innings in eight appearances and sports an ERA of 1.25 with 28 strikeouts.
