AVON, Ohio – The Concord University baseball team split a doubleheader with Notre Dame, winning 11-5, before dropping the nightcap 11-2 Sunday afternoon at Sprenger Stadium in Mountain East Conference action.
Concord is 13-7 overall and 7-1 against MEC foes this season. Notre Dame moves to 3-17 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
Game 1: Concord 11 – Notre Dame 5
CU scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh to erase a late deficit and take game one from the Falcons.
Needing just two outs to win the first game against Concord, Notre Dame issued a walk to sophomore infielder
Nathan Neff and hit senior infielder
Chad Frazier with a pitch to start the Mountain Lions' rally. Three batters later sophomore outfielder
Adam Linkous plated the second run of the inning with a single back through the box.
With the bases loaded for junior outfielder
Evan Webb, the Whitby, Ontario native doubled to left field to tie the game, 5-5, and sophomore infielder
Jakob Divers beat out an infield single to bring Linkous in as the go-ahead run.

Paul Williams each had an RBI during the rally with Neff providing a two-RBI single to pad the Concord lead.
CU's first run of the contest came on a ground-rule double by junior infielder
Adrian Peralta in the second inning as he scored Linkous with the hit.
All five NDC runs were scored unearned against junior pitcher
Troy Beckner in the fifth inning. Beckner improved 3-2 on the season by tossing six innings, striking out seven batters and not allowing an earned run.
Sophomore pitcher
Cody Dooley retired the side in order in the seventh.
Nine different players had a hit in the game for the Mountain Lions led by Linkous' two. Neff and Webb each had two RBI.
Game 2: Notre Dame 11 – Concord 2
Notre Dame scored 10 unanswered runs during the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to create separation from Concord in the nightcap.
The Falcons put the first run on the board in the second before CU battled back for a pair of runs in the third.
Wiersma came around to score on Frazier's RBI single after he led off the inning with his own base hit. Williams followed with a double that allowed Frazier to touch home on junior catcher /outfielder

However, NDC scored two runs in the fourth to regain a 3-2 edge and extended the lead with six runs in the next inning.
Frazier and Williams each had two hits in the contest.
Freshman utility
Anthony Stehlin (2-2) was charged with the loss as he allowed five runs (three earned) in four innings on the mound.
Concord returns home for a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday against Shepherd and Fairmont State. Friday's twinbill versus SU starts at 1:00 p.m.
