MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
This weekend will mark the third time in the last four seasons that Concord has matched up against the Bulldogs.

The teams met in March 2015 for a one-game midweek series, and also opposed each in February 2016.

During the meeting in 2015, the contest needed 17 innings to be decided with WU edging out the Mountain Lions, 17-16.

Just three current CU players appeared in the 2015 game.

Senior infielder Chad Frazier recorded four RBI in the game including a bases-clearing triple. Senior catcher Paul  Williams came up with two hits while senior pitcher Reece Edwards tossed six innings in the extra frames and struck out six batters which at the time was a career best.

Wingate took all three games from the Mountain Lions two seasons, but the final game was decided by one run, 9-8.

In his only career start against the Bulldogs, junior catcher / outfielder Jordan Clark was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Meanwhile, Frazier has six career RBI versus WU.

Clark and Frazier will each carry hit streaks into the 2018 season. Clark recorded at least one hit in 12 straight games to end 2017. Frazier had a team-best 20-game hit streak during the 2017 season, and will start this year with a seven-game hit streak.

As the 2018 season starts, several Mountain Lions appear in the Concord record book with others approaching the top 10.

Frazier is tied for third in career triples to start the season with 12 career three-base hits. The all-time record for triples in a career at CU is held by Rob Annicelli with 19. Last season, Frazier had six triples.

Additionally, Frazier is eighth in all-time stolen bases (30) and eighth in batting average (.378).

After blasting 13 home runs a season ago, Clark ran his career total to 20 which places ninth all-time at Concord.

Senior infielder Trevor Wiersma is approaching the top 10 in both home runs and career doubles. Wiersma has 12 career home runs and needs six more to join the top 10. With 31 doubles in his career, the Vancouver, British Columbia native needs 11 more to move inside the top 10.

With 26 career starts in his first two seasons in the Maroon and Gray, junior pitcher Troy Beckner ranks eighth at Concord.

Ty Andrus is the top returning player for Wingate as the senior outfielder led WU in batting average (.366), hits (67), doubles (12) and stolen bases (18).

Bradley Brown paced the Bulldogs with 11 home runs and 41 RBI last season, but hit just .253 in 2017.

Hunter Hamilton struck out 60 batters in 57 innings of work on the mount. Hamilton received just two wins in a 2-4 campaign.
