ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Shepherd Thursday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at Anderson Field.
The Mountain Lions (5-3-2, 3-2-1 MEC) outshot Shepherd (3-6-1, 2-3-1 MEC) 17-7 and had more shots on goal, 4-3, but was unable to convert the chances into a goal.
Junior midfielder
Delaney Crumblish had two looks at the goal in the first half, but SU's Lulu Fricks saved the shots to keep the game scoreless at the intermission.
Sophomore midfielder
Sarah Hill provided a spark of the bench in the second half as her heading shot glanced off the crossbar in the 81
st in what would have been a potential game-winning goal. The attempt from Hill came after a corner kick from sophomore midfielder
Courtney Wallace that was served into the box for the shot by Hill.
Fellow sophomore midfielder
Yasmin Mosby had two shots from outside the 18-yard box that went high of the goal in the second half.
Crumblish and freshman forward
Leah Foster combined for the four shots on goal for Concord.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Maher saved three shots—including one in overtime—as she earned her sixth shutout of the season for the Mountain Lions.
CU takes to the road to face Wheeling Jesuit 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
