URBANA, Ohio – The Concord University volleyball team fell on the road in Mountain East Conference play against Urbana in straight sets Thursday night at the Grimes Center.
Urbana (14-7, 3-3 MEC) took the match 25-15, 25-18, 25-16.
The Blue Knights scored 15 of the first 20 points of the match to open up a 15-5 lead on CU (4-16, 1-4 MEC). Concord was able to get back to within 18-9 after a kill from senior middle hitter
Brooke Heck, but was unable to get any closer in the first set.
In the second set, the Mountain Lions erased an early 5-0 deficit, and briefly took a 10-9 lead after a service ace from sophomore libero
Lindsay Maddox. But, UU scored five straight points to regain a 14-10 edge. Concord made one run at Urbana in the second as a kill from senior outside hitter
Ellie Lawrence and a Blue Knights' error got the Mountain Lions back to within 20-18. However, UU scored five straight points to close out the set.
UU went on a 11-4 run midway through the third game to win the match as it stretched its lead out to 11-6 after Concord scored the first two points of the third set.

Lawrence led CU with eight kills in the match. Junior setter
Jenna Mounts notched 16 assists while Maddox added 11 digs.
The Mountain Lions continue their road trip 5:00 p.m. Friday against Notre Dame.
