Concord Drops MEC Finale to Charleston

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team was defeated 6-0 by nationally-ranked Charleston Sunday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at Anderson Field.

The Mountain Lions (4-11-1, 4-9-1 MEC) hung tough with Charleston (15-0-2, 13-0-1) in the first 45 minutes of the game. CU allowed just one UC score as junior goalkeeper Ching Lok Au made five saves in the opening half.

However, the Golden Eagles tallied five goals in the second half of the contest.

Senior midfielder Matt Henderson and sophomore midfielder Maxime Ramioulle each had a shot on goal for Concord. Lok Au made a total of eight saves in the contest. Junior goalkeeper Bryce Deeringer came on in relief of Lok Au and stopped four UC shots.

Sunday marked the final MEC game for Concord this season.

CU welcomes Bluefield College to Anderson Field 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the final game of 2018. It will be a makeup of a previous postponed game between the teams.
