ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team begins a six-match road trip to finish the season as it plays three matches this weekend at West Liberty and Wheeling Jesuit.

CU is 5-21 this season and 2-9 versus Mountain East Conference opponents.
Wheeling Jesuit is ranked 18
th nationally in Division II with a record of 24-3 overall and 11-0 in the MEC.
West Liberty will be seeking its 20
th win at 19-8 with a 7-4 record.
VSU is 18-8 on the season including a five-set win over Concord on August 24.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord split a pair of matches over the weekend at the Carter Center as they downed Glenville State in four sets before falling to West Virginia Wesleyan in five games.
Senior outside hitter
Ellie Lawrence paced the attack for the Maroon and Gray versus GSC as she had a career-best 20 kills while hitting .543 in the match. With her performance, Lawrence elevated herself into seventh place on the career hitting percentage list at Concord at .191. Additionally, the Newport News, Virginia native is hitting a career-best .227 this season.
Fellow senior outside hitter
Alexi Pranckus had a strong weekend as well as she tallied 25 kills over two matches to bring her career total to 955. The 25 kills were the most for Pranckus in a two-match stretch this season with her previous high being 24 against IU-Southeast and Kentucky State.
Over the final six regular season matches, Pranckus needs to average 7.5 kills per match to reach 1,000 for her career.
Last season, the Mountain Lions dropped a four-set match to West Liberty as they won the second game 25-13 over the Hilltoppers.
Senior middle hitter
Brooke Heck led the offensive attack for CU with 17 kills and a hitting mark of .429. Heck enters play this weekend ranked third in the MEC in hitting percentage for 2018 at .310.
Defensively, sophomore libero
Lindsay Maddox had 29 digs in the contest which was one of five matches for Maddox last season with at least 25 digs.
Junior setter
Jenna Mounts registered a double-double of 16 assists and 16 digs against West Liberty while Lawrence just missed her own double-double of nine kills and 11 digs.
In the five-set contest with Virginia State earlier this season, junior libero
Erin Shannon had 16 digs while freshman right side
Camryn Huber tallied six kills. Heck had a team-best eight kills in the match.
WEST LIBERTY AT A GLANCE
WLU is limiting it opponents to a .149 hitting percentage, third best in the MEC.
Kailee Cunningham is fifth in the MEC in digs per set at 4.78.
The Hilltoppers enter Friday's contest having four of their last six games.
WHEELING JESUIT AT A GLANCE
The Cardinals have only lost two sets in MEC play this season, a set each to Shepherd and West Liberty.
WJU's Haley Kramer is hitting nearly .400 this season (.397). Kramer's percentage leads the conference. Allonda Watkins is eighth in the league in hitting percentage at .282.
Wheeling Jesuit is ranked second in the Atlantic Region in the initial release of the rankings earlier this week.
