URBANA, Ohio – Behind five goals in the second half, the Concord University women's soccer team beat Urbana 5-1 Wednesday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at UU Stadium.
The Mountain Lions (10-4-2, 9-3-1 MEC) and UU (3-13, 2-11 MEC) played to a scoreless draw in the first half despite Concord owning a 13-6 advantage in total shots and firing four shots on target.
The second-half scoring opened quickly as sophomore midfielder
Courtney Wallace fired shot past Urbana goalkeeper Katherine Beech for her seventh goal of the season just 68 seconds into the final 45 minutes of the contest. UU would not be deterred by the rapid score as the Blue Knights earned a penalty kick three minutes late to knot the game at 1-1.
But, the Mountain Lions scored three times in 12 minutes to take command of the game. Senior forward
Pilar Elias had a shot saved in the 56
th minute, but followed up her own rebound by tapping in the put back for her 10
th goal of the season. In the 65
th minute, freshman forward
Leah Foster finished her seventh goal of the season to give Concord a 3-1 edge.
Shortly after play resumed, sophomore midfielder
Yasmin Mosby, who had just assisted on the Foster score, blasted in her own goal off a free kick on the left side from approximately 20 yards away.

Maggie Hall concluded the scoring on the afternoon as she tallied her fourth goal of the season in the 89
th minute on an assist from senior midfielder
Delaney Crumblish.
Foster and Mosby each had three points in the contest as Foster assisted on Wallace's goal.
With her second half score, Elias became the first Concord player to have at least 10 goals in a season since 2009.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Maher was challenged just three times in the game as she made two saves. Concord owned a 25-8 advantage in total shots and had 15 shots on goal.
The Mountain Lions play their regular season finale 1:00 p.m. Sunday against Charleston. It will be Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Anderson Field. All fans are encouraged to wear pink.
At stake in the contest will be home field advantage in the first round of next week's MEC Tournament. The teams are guaranteed to meet in the first round Tuesday. With a win or tie, Concord would host Charleston in the MEC Tournament.
