RECORDS
The Mountain Lions grabbed an overtime victory over UVa.-Wise this past weekend to improve to 9-8 on the season and 6-6 in the Mountain East Conference.
Glenville State edged out WVWC to move to 3-14 overall and 2-10 versus MEC foes.
Wesleyan is 2-16 this season and also 2-10 in the MEC.
WORKING OVERTIME
Concord needed overtime to down UVa.-Wise 80-77 on the road.
Trailing by 10 with 14 minutes left in the game, the Mountain Lions grinded back into the game, and junior guard
Tommy Bolte made two free throws with eight seconds left in regulation to move the game into the extra session.
CU scored the first bucket in overtime as it never trailed the Cavaliers.
Over the last three seasons, Concord has played five overtime games and improves to 2-3 in those contests with the win over UVa.-Wise.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB
In Concord's victory at UVa.-Wise, sophomore forward
Trey Brisco and freshman
Darian Peterson both picked up their first career double-double.
Peterson went for 13 points and tied for the team best in rebounds with 13. It was the first time Peterson has scored in double figures since January 6 at Fairmont State.
For Brisco, he scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Of Brisco's 11 rebounds, seven were on the offensive glass, the most for a CU player in a single game since Patrick Eugene had seven last season at home against Fairmont State.
As a team, the Mountain Lions have five double-doubles this season, and four of them have come in pairings.
Along with Brisco and Peterson's double-doubles Saturday, Bolte and freshman
Jyles Webster each had a double-double against West Liberty.
GLASS SMASH
Though CU shot just 35.8 percent (24-for-67) from the floor against UVa.-Wise, the Mountain Lions owned a commanding 58-35 advantage in rebounds.
Webster joined Brisco and Peterson in double-figure totals as he yanked down a career-best 13 boards.
The 58 rebounds that Concord collected are the third-most in an MEC game this season and the most for CU in a conference game since Valentine's Day 2015 versus West Virginia State when it had 54 rebounds.
In grabbing 58 total rebounds, Concord snatched 21 offensive rebounds, a season high.
The previous best was against Virginia Union when the Mountain Lions pulled down 20 offensive rebounds.
The 21 offensive against UVa.-Wise led to 23 second-chance points, one point off the season best.
STEADY EDDIE
Bolte tallied 29 points at UVa.-Wise to keep his scoring average above 30 points per game--30.9.
The Chillicothe, Ohio native continues to lead Division II in scoring and has a 3.2 points per game lead on West Alabama's Charles Eaton.
Bolte trails just two players in Division III for the overall national scoring lead at any level.
Bolte needs one more 20-point game to tie the MEC record for consecutive 20-point games in a season.
Former West Liberty star Seger Bonifant scored 20 or more in 15 straight games. Bolte has score 20 or more in 14 consecutive games.
MOVIN' ON UP
By beating UVa.-Wise, head coach
Todd May picked up his 20th career coaching victory.
May moved into a tie for 11th in all-time coaching wins at Concord with Robert Roberts (1928-30).
For May to move into the top 10 in coaching wins this season, the Mountain Lions would need five more wins.
In other career records, senior guard
B.J. Hamlet made four three-pointers to run his career total to 166.
The Roanoke, Virginia native needs six three-pointers to enter into the top 10 at CU in career three-pointers.
Currently, Hamlet is tied with Matt Parker (2006-10) for 11th and would also move past Mike Neal (1995-2000) to get into the top 10 in made triples.
BREAKING OUT THE BROOMS
Even though the Mountain Lions own a 54-12 advantage over Glenville State in the all-time series, the teams had split the last six meetings prior this season when CU won an 84-70 decision at the Carter Center.
Concord will be seeking its second season sweep of the Pioneers in the last three years after defeating GSC twice during the 2015-16 season.
Since the Waco Center opened up at Glenville State prior to the 2014-15 season, the Maroon and Gray has two of the three games played between CU and the Pioneers including a 74-71 decision last season.
Bolte scored 17 points on 8-for-15 shooting in last year's victory on the road.
WELCOMING SIGHT
Freshman forward
Antonio Patterson and Peterson played two of their best games in the Maroon and Gray in wins over Glenville State and West Virginia Wesleyan earlier this season. Peterson scored 35 total points in the two games including a career-high 19 points versus GSC.
The North Chesterfield, Virginia native went a combined 13-for-16 from the field and 7-for-8 from three-point range while also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Patterson averaged 10 points per game and was 9-for-17 from the floor in the two games.
Those two games kickstarted a stretch for Patterson where he scored at least 10 points in five of six games.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
5- Consecutive games that Concord has grabbed at least 10 offensive rebounds.
6- CU will be seeking its sixth road win of the season Wednesday, something it didn't accomplish last season.
31- Concord's bench averaged 31 points per game in two wins over GSC and Wesleyan earlier this season.
GLENVILLE STATE AT A GLANCE
The Pioneers shot 55.1 percent (27-for-49) from the field in their win over WVWC.
Darhius Nunn has been ranked in the top 10 in the MEC in scoring all season, sitting sixth at 18.5 points per game.
Brooks Ely does a little bit of everything for GSC as he is averaging 8.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
Of the 17 games GSC has played, seven of them have been decided by six points or less.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
Troy transfer Aaron Ariri leads the Bobcats in both points and rebounds, scoring 13.1 points per game and grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game.
Although he doesn't qualify among the league leaders, Ariri is shooting 61.1 percent (88-for-144) from the field.
Luka Petrovic sits third in the MEC in assists at 4.9 per game.
Earlier this season, Ariri scored 23 points and tallied nine rebounds versus Concord.
