WISE, Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to win its fifth straight game with a 67-64 victory over UVa.-Wise Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at the Prior Center.
The Mountain Lions (9-7, 6-6 MEC) were held to 29.4 percent shooting (10-for-34) from the field in the first half, and faced a 33-25 halftime deficit.
Concord quickly evened the game with the Cavaliers (3-14, 2-10 MEC) in the third quarter as CU opened the half on a 12-4 run over the first 2:58 of the third quarter. Â Junior guard

CU continued to keep the pressure on UVa.-Wise as it was able to work its lead up to a game-high seven points after junior guard
Andreanna Pool dropped in two of her 10 points on the afternoon to make it 48-41 with 3:42 left in the third quarter.
However, the Cavaliers closed the quarter on an 8-2 run to shrink the Mountain Lions' lead to 50-49 heading into the final 10 minutes of the game.
Senior guard
Lindsey Overbey created the fourth tie of the game, 54-54 with seven minutes remaining in the contest, and Boothe was successful on a second-chance layup to push CU in front by two. The Cavaliers answered with a basket on their next possession to force the game's fifth tie. But, Overbey scored the next six for CU on back-to-back three-pointers to race the lead out to 62-56 with 3:40 left in the contest.
Still, UVa.-Wise would not go away quietly. The Cavaliers converted an old-school three-point play to reduce Concord's edge to 65-64 with 44 seconds left in regulation. On the next possession for CU, May drove in for layup to push the lead to three with 19 seconds left in the contest. On the defensive end, the Athens, West Virginia native partially blocked the attempt at a game-tying three-pointer from the Cavaliers as Concord hung on for a three-point win.
May dropped in a game-best 18 points and collected her third double-double of the season by adding 12 rebounds.
Overbey just missed her first career double-double as she scored 14 points and pulled in nine boards. Boothe matched Overbey with 14 points while handing out five assists.
Pool rounded out the Concord players in double figures with 10 points, five assists and no turnovers. The Durham, North Carolina native also had three steals in the contest.
CU takes their five-game winning streak on the road to face nationally-ranked Glenville State 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
