RECORDS
The Mountain Lions have a record of 8-7 and are 5-5 against MEC foes.
Charleston comes into the game at 9-7 this season and is also 5-5 in the league.
The Cavaliers are 6-10 overall and sport a conference mark of 4-6.
HOT HAND
In Saturday's 119-110 loss against third-ranked West Liberty, senior guard
B.J. Hamlet scored a career-high 38 points on 14-for-21 shooting and was 8-for-13 from three-point range.
Hamlet also set career marks in total made field goals (14) and three-point buckets (eight) in the game versus WLU.
Since the beginning of the 2014-15 season, five different players have recorded a 30-point game, and their have been 20 different 30-point games for the Mountain Lions over the last last four seasons after Hamlet's performance versus the Hilltoppers.
By knocking in eight three-pointers, it was the most triples for a Concord player since Rob Reed nailed eight against Johnson C. Smith in November 2015, and the second-most in a MEC game this season.
TWICE AS NICE
Junior guard
Tommy Bolte and freshman forward
Jyles Webster each had double-doubles.
Bolte's double-double came on 23 points and 10 rebounds while Webster set career-highs in both points (13) and rebounds (11).
It was the second career double-double for Bolte, but his first that involved points and rebounds. And for Webster, it was his first double-double.
Bolte and Webster are the first set of teammates to have a double-double in the same game since Terry Hopewell and Jametrius Wade each had a double-double in the MEC Championship game in 2016.
SECOND HELPING
Concord tallied 20 second-chance points after collecting 19 offensive rebounds against the Hilltoppers.
Over the last three games, the Mountain Lions are averaging 15.3 points on second-chance opportunities and have collected 15.6 offensive rebounds per game in the last three contests. Versus West Liberty, five different players scored second-chance buckets with Bolte and Hamlet pacing the effort with six points a piece.
Sophomore forward
Trey Brisco and Webster each added four second-chance points while junior forward
Jafar Musa had two in his best game at Concord that included six points and seven rebounds.
The 20 second-chance points represented the second-highest total for CU this season and the most since Concord scored 24 second-chance points against Alderson-Broaddus.
PLAYING WITH THE BEST
Despite losing both games to nationally-ranked Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty, the Mountain Lions proved they can play with the two best teams in the MEC.
Before losing to West Liberty by nine points, CU dropped a two-point contest, 69-67, to Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday.
The only other team in the league to play both squads within 10 points was Fairmont State who defeated Wheeling Jesuit by four points and lost to WLU by six points.
THE CLOSER
Earlier this season in a road win for the Mountain Lions at UC, Bolte scored 20 of 23 points for Concord that span from 7:04 left in the game until 19 seconds remained in the contest.
CU won at Charleston 77-72.
The Chillicothe, Ohio native finished the contest with 30 points on 13-for-21 shooting and 4-of-8 from three-point range.
However, it wasn't the first time Bolte has exploded in the scoring column against Charleston in the second half.
In Concord's 89-66 home win over UC to close last season, the junior guard tallied 21 of his 29 points in the second half.
Overall, Bolte is shooting 24-for-37 and 7-for-12 from behind the arc against Charleston in his last two games.
HOME SUCCESS
CU will be seeking a fourth-straight home win over Charleston when it welcomes the Golden Eagles to the Carter Center.
Before last year's convincing 23-point win, the previous two contests where decided in the final moments with the Mountain Lions capturing a 68-63 win during the 2014-15 season.
A season later, Rob Reed hit a buzzer-beater to knock off UC 69-66.
Before this recent run, the last time the Mountain Lions defeated Charleston three straight years at home was during the 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.
Since both schools became Division II institutions in 1993, CU has never beaten Charleston four years in a row at the Carter Center.
TRENDING UPWARD
Last season, the Maroon and Gray was unable to avoid a sweep by UVa.-Wise as CU lost at home and was beaten at UVa.-Wise 100-92 on the final day of the regular season.
The last time Concord lost two straight to the Cavaliers was the 2013-14 season.
The following year Concord had two convincing wins over UVa.-Wise as it notched a 92-55 win over their neighbors from southwest Virginia, and won later in the season at the Prior Center 74-59.
