Concord Uses Big Second Half to Down Urbana, 6-0

URBANA, Ohio – The Concord University women's soccer team scored six goals as it picked up a Mountain East Conference win 6-0 against Urbana Sunday afternoon at UU Stadium.

The Mountain Lions improve to 4-4 on the season and 2-4 in the conference while Urbana falls to 1-7 overall and 1-6 in the MEC.

After only scoring one goal in the first half, CU found the back of the net five times in the second. Junior forward Pilar Elias got Concord on the scoreboard in the 16th minute with her first goal of the season. The Mountain Lions peppered the goal with four shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, but held a 1-0 edge at the intermission.

CU was quick out of the gate in the second half as freshman forward Sarah Hill broke away for a Concord score just six minutes into the second half to double the lead. Three minutes later, freshman midfielder Courtney Wallace notched her first career score with a penalty kick.

Sophomore defender Delaney Crumblish added her second goal of the season in the 64th minute as Hill assisted on the goal.

The final two scores came from Concord in the closing moments as Hill tallied her second goal of the game and fourth of the season in the 89th minute while freshman forward Sara Bane picked up her first career goal in the final minute of play.

The score for Bane was after a loose ball sprayed onto the foot of sophomore forward Megan Walsh who set up Bane.

Along with her first score, Bane added an assist on Hill's second goal.

Freshmen goalkeepers Katie Maher and Sydney Harris combined to shutout the Blue Knights. Maher saved two shots in just over 76 minutes of play while Harris did not face a shot in net.

The six goals were the most for Concord in over three years when it scored eight on Salem International on September 10, 2014.

Crumblish, Hill and Walsh each had two shots on goal in the victory.

The Mountain Lions stay on the road for a contest at Shepherd 12:00 p.m. Wednesday.
