Concord Downs Davis & Elkins, 3-1

ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team picked up a road non-conference win 3-1 Friday night against Davis & Elkins at Nuttall Field.

The Mountain Lions are 1-0 on the season while D&E falls to 0-1.

All three scorers for Concord, sophomore defender Delaney Crumblish, freshman midfielder Mira Kontio and freshman midfielder Yasmin Mosby, picked up their first career goals.

Mosby got the scoring started in the 22nd minute on an unassisted goal. The Mountain Lions' 1-0 advantage held up at halftime as neither team had a shot on goal over the final 23 minutes of the first half.

Junior forward Pilar Elias and freshman midfielder Elisha Robinson each had a shot on goal in the first in the first 15 minutes of the second half, but were turned away by Davis & Elkins goalie Samantha Wehri.

However, Kontio found the back of the net in the 66th minute on an assist from Elias to double the CU lead 2-0.

Just five minutes later, the Senators cut the CU lead in half on a free kick, but Crumblish added a late goal in the final 10 minutes to propel Concord to a 3-1 victory.

Concord tallied nine shots on goal with Crumblish and Mosby each recording two.

Freshman goalkeeper Katie Maher tallied one save, facing just two shots on the night.

The Mountain Lions outshot the Senators 14-3 and recorded more corner kicks 7-2.

CU opens up Mountain East Conference play 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at West Virginia Wesleyan.
