GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team won two games Monday, 9-3 and 14-3, against Glenville State to earn a series split in Mountain East Conference play at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
The Mountain Lions move to 22-19 overall and 15-9 in the MEC while Glenville State is 13-25 and 10-14 in the league. With two wins Monday, head coach

th career win at Concord.
Game 1: Concord 9 – Glenville State 3
Five of the nine CU runs came via the home run ball as sophomore catcher
Jordan Clark and sophomore infielder
Trevor Wiersma each hit two home runs in game one.
Concord jumped on Glenville State early as Clark and Wiersma hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning with Webb scoring on Clark's deep shot. Junior catcher
Paul Williams added a two-run double in the second to conclude a five-run inning for CU.
The Mountain Lions added two more runs in the third as Wiersma legged out his first career triple that brought home Webb while Wiersma came down to score on a sacrifice fly from freshman infielder
Jakob Divers.
In the fifth, Clark and Wiersma went back-to-back again with the long ball to stretch Concord's lead out to 9-0.
GSC scored a run in the sixth and scratched across two more in the seventh, but CU went on to win 9-3.
Freshman pitcher
Joseph Lowder (3-3) tossed six innings as he surrendered just four hits and one run while striking out a career-best nine hitters. Lowder struck out at least one batter in each of the first five innings including fanning five of the first seven batters he faced in the contest.
Clark and Wiersma each had three RBI in the game as Clark had his second multi-home run game in as many days and was the third on his career. Meanwhile, Wiersma had his first multi-home run game in his time in the Maroon and Gray.
Wiersma paced the offense with three hits while Clark, Divers, freshman infielder
Nathan Neff and Williams each had two hits.
Game 2: Concord 14 – Glenville State 3
The Mountain Lions launched three more home runs in game two as part of a 19-hit attack to clinch a split with Glenville State.
Clark got the scoring started with his fifth home run of the series in the second inning. Three batters later, sophomore infielder
Brett Simmons lifted his first career home run over the left field fence to run CU's lead out to 4-0.
The Pioneers answered with a run in the third before Concord came right back with three more scores in the fourth inning as Clark and junior infielder
Chad Frazier singled home runs.
Frazier blasted his fourth home run of the season in the sixth inning, scoring Williams on the long ball.
Up 10-3 in the eight, Concord put the game out of reach by plating four runs in the frame. Neff and sophomore outfielder
Evan Webb recorded RBI while Williams added two more RBI on the afternoon.
Senior pitcher
Nate Werner improved to 5-1 on the season as he allowed nine hits and three runs. Werner struck out five batters on his way to his 15
th career win at Concord.
Divers led all Concord hitters with four hits in the nightcap. Frazier and Simmons added three hits, and Neff, Williams and Clark all had two hits.
Frazier and Simmons each had three RBI for the Mountain Lions.
Concord continues its road trip 1:00 p.m. Saturday when it visits Charleston.
