MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Senior outfielder
Lauren Lewis moved into second all-time in runs scored with 126 after scoring four runs during Concord's trip to Florida.
Senior shortstop
Alayna Furr is now third in all-time runs scored, and is just five runs behind Lewis currently with 121.
Lewis collected her 200
th hit with a three-hit performance against Bloomsburg on Tuesday, notching the milestone on a single in the seventh inning.
Lewis also reached 25 home runs with her solo shot against IUP on Tuesday.
Furr needs just eight hi-ts to join Lewis at the 200-hit milestone.
Furr would be just the third player in Concord history to join the 200-hit club, joining Lewis and
Alyssa Morris.
Sophomore outfielder/pitcher
Abby Beatty drove in eight runs in eight games at the Florida PFX Tournament, including a walk-off two-run home run to defeat West Chester 7-6.
After trailing 6-4 to start the inning, Furr scored from second base on a double from freshman second baseman/shortstop
Jenna Witt to set up Beatty's heroics.
Beatty's eight doubles this season are the most by any MEC player this season, with Witt's six tied for third.
The Roanoke, Virginia native has already accumulated 16 RBI this season, well on her way to surpassing the 23 RBI she amassed her freshman season at CU.
Senior pitcher
Allie Reid moved one win closer to tying the all-time victory mark set by Lacey McDougall with 35. Reid now stands at 5-5 on the season.
Reid's seven complete games this season are two more than any other Mountain East Conference pitcher so far.
Reid has also posted two shutouts, tied with West Virginia Wesleyan's Hannah Vet for first among MEC pitchers.
One of those shutouts was a four-hit shutout against California (Pa.) on March 13 in a 3-0 CU win. The Lovettsville, Virginia native also blasted a home run from the
plate in the win.
The Mountain Lions swept the Yellow Jackets in four games last season, winning 4-3 and 3-0 at home before taking 7-1 and 1-0 victories in Institute last season.
Concord opened the series last season against WVSU with a thrilling come-from-behind win in the bottom of the seventh.
Concord trailed 3-0 to WVSU, managing just five hits through the first six innings.
However, the Mountain Lions managed five hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 4-3 win.
Senior pitcher/outfielder
Sarah Herndon, junior catcher/designated hitter and sophomore infielder
Kylie Kent each had RBI in the inning.
Kent's RBI proved to be the game-winning run.
In Concord's 1-0 victory, Herndon pitched a complete game effort, allowing just five hits and no earned runs for one of her five shutout performances in 2016.
CU is 15-32 all-time against WVSU, but has won five in a row versus the Yellow Jackets.
Concord has lost three out of four to Charleston, with the lone win coming on March 25 last season 10-4.
Junior third baseman
Alycea Watson provided two RBI in the win, with Lewis and Neri each adding an RBI apiece.
Beatty picked up her third career win in the circle against the high-scoring Charleston offense, allowing just one earned run in 6.2 innings played.
Freshman pitcher/outfielder
Darby Fitzpatrick recorded her third win of the season in a rematch against West Chester, throwing eight innings while allowing three
earned. The win helped Concord avenge a loss to the Golden Rams just two days earlier.
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA STATE
WVSU has won 11 games in a row, with the Yellow Jackets scoring 12 or more runs five times during the streak.
The Yellow Jackets have played several common opponents to Concord, splitting two games with Winston-Salem State, dropping two contests to Kutztown, and going 0-4 combined against Shippensburg and West Chester.
