Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Concord University split its first two games at the Snowbird Freeze Out Tournament as it beat Lock Haven 9-0 before falling to Shippensburg 8-1.
Concord improves to 5-3 on the season.
Game 1: Concord 9 – Lock Haven 0 (Five Innings)
The Mountain Lions erupt for seven runs in the third inning as they downed LHU in five innings.
The biggest hit in the third inning came from senior pitcher / outfielder
Sarah Herndon as she plated two runs on a double. Senior shortstop
Alayna Furr, senior outfielder
Lauren Lewis, sophomore pitcher / outfielder
Abby Beatty and sophomore first baseman
Lauren Blunt also notched base hits in the big third inning.
Furr led the offensive attached with a three-hit game and crossing the plate twice.
Beatty, Herndon and sophomore infielder
Kylie Kent all had two-hit games.
Senior pitcher
Allie Reid (3-1) earned the win for the Mountain Lions in the circle as she limited LHU to two hits over five innings of work. Reid added two strikeouts.

Game 2: Shippensburg 8 – Concord 1
Six runs in the first two innings by Shippensburg was too much for Concord to overcome.
After the Raiders plated six unanswered runs to start the game, junior third baseman
Alycea Watson plated freshman first baseman / pitcher
Rachel Pritchard with an RBI groundout in the second, but the CU offense was stymied after that.
Beatty and Furr each had a hit for CU.
The Mountain Lions will play two more games at the Snowbird Freeze Out Tournament Saturday, matching up against Kutztown at 10:00 a.m. and taking on Molloy at 2:00 p.m.
