MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord is 0-3 after dropping games last weekend to UNC-Pembroke.

On the offensive side, sophomore catcher Jordan Clark and junior catcher Paul Williams each collected five hits.

Williams also drew five walks during the weekend, and has an on-base percentage of .667.

In his first at-bat in the first two games of the series, junior infielder Chad Frazier smacked two solo home runs. The first home run for Frazier came on the very first pitch he saw of the season.

Frazier hit just one home run in 169 at-bats last season, but already has two home runs in 10 at-bats in 2017.

After being held hitless in the first two games of the series, freshman infielder Jakob Divers notched three RBI in the series finale.

Freshman outfielders Ryan Fralin and Carter Shrewsbury had impressive debuts in game two of the series. Fralin notched his first career RBI in his first collegiate at-bat while Shrewsbury ripped a double in his first career at-bat.

On the mound, redshirt freshman pitcher Cody Dooley made his CU debut, tossing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief in game three and allowing the Mountain Lions to rally from a 10-7 deficit before Concord fell 14-10.

Concord took the season series from West Liberty, 3-2 last year, as the Mountain Lions won three of four games from the Hilltoppers during the regular season. However, WLU knocked off CU 8-7 in the MEC Tournament last season.

Frazier collected a total of five RBI versus the Hilltoppers last season.

Meanwhile, Williams had two multi-hit games against West Liberty last season while also crossing home plate five times.

Sophomore Reed McNeer earned his first career save in a 5-4 win for Concord in the non-conference matchup with WLU.

At the MEC Tournament, junior pitcher Reece Edwards threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief as he struck out two batters.

Concord lost two of three games to WSSU last season, but each game was decided by two runs or less. CU picked up a 5-3 win in game one before the Rams won 4-2 and 6-5 in games two and three of the series.

Clark drove in two runs in game three of the series.

SCOUTING WEST LIBERTY
WLU has yet to play this season.

The Hilltoppers went 29-25 last season, and were picked to finish third in the MEC North Division.

West Liberty returns one of its top pitchers in Greg Stagani. A season ago, Stagani was 6-5 with a 3.07 ERA and struck out 85 batters in 82 innings.

The top returning bat for the Hilltoppers is Michael Adams who hit .377 last season with three home runs, 39 RBI and 17 doubles.

SCOUTING WINSTON-SALEM STATE
The Rams are 0-6 this season, but three losses came to the national runner-up in Division II in 2016, Millersville.

Emilio Abreu has plated 10 runs this season with eight RBI coming in the final game of a three-game weekend series versus Mars Hill last weekend.

Ivan Acuna is batting .350 this season with three of his seven going for doubles.
