ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team fell short in its comeback attempt against Davis & Elkins in non-conference action on Monday evening.
Concord falls to 6-18 this season, while Davis & Elkins improves to 18-6.
Concord trailed early on after the first quarter, with the Senators jumping out to an early 25-10 lead after the first period. D&E continued to make shots in the second quarter, taking a 49-22 lead heading into halftime.
Sophomore guard
Emily Boothe chipped in 16 points in the first half , going 6-for-7 from the field and making 4-of-5 shots from downtown.
The Mountain Lions attempted to claw back into the game in the third quarter, outscoring D&E 19-9 to open the period to cut the Senator lead to 58-43 with 3:37 left.
D&E pushed its lead back to 18, 68-50, heading into the fourth quarter.
The Mountain Lions came closest to getting back into the game with five minutes remaining, Another three-pointer from Boothe cut the Senator lead to 72-61 with five minutes remaining in the game.
However, the Senators rattled off the next six points to help claim an 80-64 win.
Boothe tied her career-high with 26 points while pulling down seven boards.
The Riner, Virginia native has now grabbed seven or more rebounds in four of her past five games.

Danielle Catron (15) and senior guard
Alexis Lowery (12). Junior forward
Heather Chapman had eight rebounds.
Concord returns to action on Thursday at Urbana.
