PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Concord University baseball team rallied late, but lost to UNC-Pembroke 14-10 in the final game of the series Sunday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.
The Braves (6-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth after CU (0-3) plated three runs in the seventh to even the score, 10-10. The seventh-inning rally started with back-to-back doubles from sophomore catcher
Jordan Clark and sophomore infielder
Adrian Peralta. Sophomore infielder
Trevor Wiersma loaded the bases with a bunt single two batters later, and freshman infielder
Jakob Divers and junior infielder
Ian Southcott notched RBI to even the score.
UNC-Pembroke scored four runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth to win game three of the series.
Earlier in the game, Concord was first to get on the board after a five-run second inning that was highlighted by a two-run, bases-loaded single from junior infielder
Chad Frazier. Divers drew a bases-loaded walk in the inning while Southcott plated a run with a base hit and freshman infielder
Nathan Neff had an RBI groundout.
UNCP took control of the game as it scored nine total runs in the third and fourth to take a 10-7 lead after four inning before the Concord rally in the seventh.
Divers recorded three RBI in the contest. Frazier and Southcott each had two RBI. Frazier finished the weekend with two home runs and four RBI.

Evan Webb and Wiersma each had two-hit games.
Freshman pitcher
McKinley Scott was hit with the loss in a relief effort for the Mountain Lions, throwing 1.2 innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out a batter. Fellow freshman pitcher
Joseph Lowder started for CU, going 2.2 innings, allowing two earned runs and fanning one hitter.
Concord plays a neutral site doubleheader 12:00 p.m. Thursday against West Liberty that will be counted as non-conference contests at Epling Stadium in Beckley, West Virginia.
