Concord Voted Sixth in Men's Tennis Poll

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Concord University men's tennis team has been slotted to tie for seventh in the Mountain East Conference preseason coaches' poll, the league office announced Friday afternoon.

West Liberty picked up six of eight first-place votes and 48 total points as it edged West Virginia Wesleyan (44 points) who grabbed the final two first-place votes. Charleston (37), Fairmont State (29), Shepherd (22), UVa.-Wise (22), Concord (11) and West Virginia State (11) completed the poll.

Head coach Joe Blankenship welcomes back returners Stan Cohen, William Dick, Alfonso Jimenez, Javier Lietor and Daniel Rose from last year's squad. Local talent Alec Lusk (Pineville, West Virginia) and Adam Tolliver (Glen Daniel, West Virginia) along with Aiki Kato are the new players to the program.

The Mountain Lions are coming off a 1-10 season in 2015-16, however, Concord made the MEC Tournament semifinals during the 2014-15 season.

CU begins the season at Fairmont State March 11. The first home match for Concord is April 2 versu Shepherd.
