FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team lost in double overtime as Fairmont State scored with less than three minutes remaining to take a 3-2 decision at Duvall-Rosier Field in Mountain East Conference action Tuesday night.
The Mountain Lions (5-6, 3-5 MEC) fought back from a 2-0 halftime deficit as junior forward
Pilar Elias buried her third goal of the season in the 54
th minute as she poked home a rebound on an initial shot from freshman forward
Courtney Wallace.
In the 69
th minute, freshman midfielder
Yasmin Mosby found herself on 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper, and she was able to score her second goal of the season to tie the game 2-2.
Concord had ample opportunity--especially late in the game--as Wallace had a shot saved, Mosby drilled a shot off the crossbar and freshman midfielder
Mira Kontio had a shot blocked all within the final two minutes of regulation.
CU continued the pressure in the first overtime as four of the five total shots belonged to the Maroon and Gray, including a chance by sophomore defender
Ali Cook off a corner kick.
Fairmont State's (3-4-3, 2-4-3) only shot in the first extra segment went wide of the goal.
FSU's Courtney Webb scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime at the 107:01 mark in the contest.
The Mountain Lions had a season-high 13 shots on goal. Elias and Wallace each had three shots on goal.
