ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team won with ease, 5-1, over Shepherd Wednesday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action at Anderson Field.
Sophomore forward
Sam Ashton become the fourth player in the MEC this season to record a hat trick as he scored the first three goals for CU (3-11-2, 3-7-1 MEC).
Ashton scored twice, just 2:19 apart from the goals, to start the game. The Waterlooville, England native put away his own rebound three minutes into the contest after his initial shot rung off the post. The Rams (0-16-1, 0-11 MEC) committed a foul in the penalty shortly after to set up Ashton's second goal.
The 2-0 edge would hold up for the Mountain Lions at halftime.
After a corner kick by Concord sailed wide of the goal, senior midfielder
Yacouba Issa Traore saved the ball along the goal line and played it on to Ashton who headed his third score of the game in the 53
rd minute to net the hat trick.
The Mountain Lions used two more goals to pull away from Shepherd.
Sophomore
Maxime Ramioulle recorded his fourth goal of the season after receiving a one-time pass from sophomore midfielder
Josh Mattson for the goal. Before Mattson's dish to Ramioulle, senior midfielder
Michael D'Angelo passed the ball from along sideline.
Freshman forward
Andrew Hardman netted his first career goal in the 81
st minute after a corner kick from freshman midfielder
Moulay Hassani.
The Mountain Lions got off 28 shots for the game, fourth most in the conference this season. Of the 28 shots, 14 were on target.
All three of Ashton's shots on goal went in. Hassani, Ramioulle and Traore each had two shots on goal.

Darren Onwu held Shepherd to five total shots.
Concord closes the season on Senior Day 3:30 p.m. Saturday versus Urbana.
