ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team returns home for two matches against Notre Dame 5:00 p.m. Friday before taking on Urbana 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
RECORDS
Concord is 9-12 overall and has a mark of 3-2 against Mountain East Conference foes.
Notre Dame is 7-12 and seeking its first win in MEC play with a record of 0-5.
Urbana has gotten off to an 8-11 start and a 2-3 record in the league.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Last time out, Concord dropped a three-set match to King in non-conference play Tuesday night.
However, the last MEC match for Concord resulted in a win as the Mountain Lions swept UVa.-Wise October 3 on the road.
In the win at UVa.-Wise, junior middle hitter
Brooke Heck had her best hitting game of the season with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .611, a season-best.
After a six-kill performance at King, Heck is tied for eighth in all-time kills at CU with 832.
In their three conference wins this season, the Mountain Lions have hit .280, .289 and .266. CU is tied for second in hitting percentage with Fairmont State at .200.
Sophomore middle hitter
Emily Ellis leads Concord in hitting percentage at .300 while Heck is hitting .283 in 2017.
Ellis' hitting percentage ranks second in the MEC, and Heck is just behind in third. Additionally, Ellis is fifth in the conference in blocks per set (1.00).
CU lost to both Notre Dame and Urbana last season in four sets. Heck notched 16 kills against the NDC. Senior setter
Casey Mandeville added a double-double of 22 assists and 10 digs.
Junior outside hitter
Alexi Pranckus just missed a double-double of nine kills and 11 digs.
At Urbana, Mandeville also went for a double-double with 28 assists and another 10 digs. Heck and Pranckus had 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
The Mountain Lions downed Notre Dame in four sets the last time the two teams played at the Carter Center in 2015. Pranckus had one of her best matches in the Maroon and Gray with 19 kills and 16 digs. The 19 kills are just two off Pranckus' career high of 21 that she set later in 2015 versus UVa.-Wise.
In 2015, the Tinley Park, Illinois native had back-to-back double-doubles on consecutive days against Notre Dame and Urbana as she notched 12 kills and 13 digs versus UU in a five-set loss.
