ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team fell to Fairmont State 70-54 in Mountain East Conference action at the Carter Center on Tuesday night.
Concord drops to 2-8 (1-5 MEC), while Fairmont State improves to 6-6 on the year (3-3 MEC).
Fairmont State jumped out to an early 11-4 run, but CU responded with four straight points to trim the deficit to four with 3:42 left in the first quarter. Another spurt from the Fighting Falcons helped FSU take a seven-point lead after the first period, 21-14. FSU capitalized on Concord turnovers, scoring eight points from turnovers in the first quarter.

Emily Boothe cut the FSU advantage to 34-22 with 1:29 left in the half.

Alexis Lowery helped Concord enter the halftime break trailing by 10, 34-24.
After trailing by as many as 18 in the third quarter, Concord managed to pull within 13 heading into the final period after freshman forward
Madison May converted a layup.
FSU managed to hold off a Concord comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, maintaining a double-digit lead throughout the entire period.
Fairmont State outscored the Mountain Lions 16-0 on second chance points.
Boothe provided a strong showing off of the bench with 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Boothe snagged four rebounds and dished out three assists. Lowery was the only other Concord player to score in double figures, adding 10 points. May provided five points and five rebounds off of the bench.
Concord continues its home stand when it hosts Notre Dame College on Sunday. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 P.M.
