ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team earned its second straight victory on Monday evening defeating Bluefield State 81-60 in non-conference action at the Carter Center.
Concord improves to 4-15 overall, while Bluefield State falls to 1-18 on the season.
Concord started the game well, jumping out to a 7-1 lead after sophomore guard

Danielle Catron each made shots from beyond the arc, Boothe also made a free throw during the run.
Bluefield State responded with a 13-4 run to take a 14-11 lead with 2:51 to go in the first quarter. The Mountain Lions battled back with a 6-0 run to end the quarter, with the points once again coming from deep. This time senior guard
Alexis Lowery started the run, before another three-pointer from Catron helped Concord close the quarter with some momentum, leading 17-14.
The separation for Concord began in the second quarter, exploding for a 23-6 run in the opening seven minutes of the quarter to break open a 40-20 lead with 2:57 left in the half. Catron scored nine points during the run, and CU hit three more three-pointers during the spurt.
Junior guard
Lindsey Overbey added nine points as well during the quarter as Concord took a 43-24 lead heading into halftime.
The Mountain Lions continued to hit shots in the second half, including six more threes, to earn an 81-60 win.
Leading the way in the scoring column was
Danielle Catron, scoring a season-high 25 points, going 7-for-11 from the field and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe. Boothe added 16, Overbey 15, and
Alexis Lowery rounded out CU players in double figures at 11 points.
Concord made 14 threes in total, the most three-pointers for CU since last season when it hit 13 against Urbana on January 12, 2016. The three-point barrage was led by Boothe, who went 5-for-6 six from downtown. Catron added four makes, hitting her first three attempts to open the game. Lowery made three while Overbey chipped in two three-pointers.
Concord assisted on 79 percent of its made field goals Monday night (19 assists on 24 field goals) with
Olivia Morgan notching nine assists, one short of her career-high. The Richmond, Virginia native had just one turnover.
Concord also had 18 steals Monday night with Morgan and Boothe tallying four steals each. The 18 steals were the most by a Concord team since January 26 of last season when it recorded 18 steals against Bluefield State.
Concord returns to Mountain East Conference play on Wednesday when it travels to Glenville State for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
