GLENVILLE, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team dropped a 101-75 decision on the road at Glenville State in Mountain East Conference action on Wednesday night at the Waco Center.
Concord falls to 4-16 overall (2-13 MEC), while GSC improves to 18-3 overall (12-3 MEC).
A strong first quarter from the Mountain Lions saw CU shoot 57 percent from the field, including eight consecutive made shots from 8:03 mark in the first quarter until 4:33 left in the period.
The Mountain Lions scored 10 of their 24 points in the paint, and junior guard
Danielle Catron helped to spark the hot shooting early, hitting four of her six attempts from the field to score eight points while grabbing three rebounds in the process.
Glenville State began to take control in the second quarter, outscoring the Mountain Lions 19-8 over the first five minutes of the second quarter to take a 40-30 lead with 5:10 left in the first half. GSC continued to keep CU at bay over the final five minutes to take a 49-38 lead heading into halftime.
Glenville State scored 52 points in the second half to take a 101-75 victory.
Junior guard
Lindsey Overbey finished with 16 points, including going 2-for-3 from three-point range. The Gate City, Virginia native also hauled in a team-high eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Emily Boothe added 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting, while pulling down seven rebounds. Catron chipped in 12 points, while freshman forward
Madison May notched her third double-digit scoring game of the season with 10 off of the bench.
Concord returns home on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tip against West Virginia Wesleyan.
