ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University Women's basketball team returns from the holiday break with conference matchups against Shepherd (4-8) 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Fairmont State (5-5) 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU is 1-7 overall this season and 0-4 against Mountain East Conference opponents.
Shepherd is off to a 1-3 start in conference play, while FSU is at an even 2-2 through its first two conference games.
HITTING 90
Concord has had several offensive outbursts this season in which it scored over 80 points.
Concord scored 84 points in a win at Bluefield State, while scoring 87 points in matchups against West Virginia State and Glenville State.
Last season against the Rams, Concord managed to reach the 90-point mark, the only time it managed to score 90 points all season.
In that game, the Mountain Lionsshot 48% from the field, and held off a furious Shepherd rally to claim a season split with the Rams.
BALANCED SCORING
Against Shepherd last season at home, Concord managed to have five players score in double figures.
Leading the way for CU was junior guard
Lindsey Overbey, who poured in a career-high 22 points while adding seven rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures for Concord was
Kylie Molisee (17), junior guard
Danielle Catron (13), senior guard
Alexis Lowery (12), and senior guard
Olivia Morgan (12).
FIRING FROM THREE
In Concord's three matchups against Fairmont State last season, it attempted 54 three-pointers, including shooting 28 free throws in a first-round MEC Tournament clash at Joe Retton Arena last season.
Catron, Lowery, and sophomore guard
Emily Boothe proved to be effective from downtown, with Catron making four three pointers while Lowery and Boothe each hit three.
CLOSE CALLS
Concord's two matchups with Shepherd last season were both decided by four points or less.
Against the Rams in Shepherdstown, West Virginia last season, Concord managed to fight back and have a chance to tie the game at the buzzer in a 75-72 defeat.
In the home matchup for the Mountain Lions, it was Shepherd who fought back from a deficit, falling just short 90-86. In the two matchups, there were a combined 14 lead changes.
SCOUTING SHEPHERD
Shepherd opened the season at 4-8, splitting a pair of matchups in Puerto Rico before dropping a nonconference decision to Virginia State.
Morgan Arden leads the Rams in scoring, pouring in 13.3 points per game.
Arden scored 28 points in Athens last season.
Cara Mason also scores in double figures at 10.9 points per game, while Liz Myers adds 8.3 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING FAIRMONT STATE
Fairmont State stands at 5-5 on the season.
After splitting its first four games, the Fighting Falcons have alternated wins and losses since.
FSU has four players averaging double figures, Makenzie White (14.7), Amanda Ruffner (14.3), Emily Puskarich (13.7), and Deidra Combs (12.5).
FSU is fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 73.7 points per game, while giving up just 66.1 points per game.
