Concord Set Back by Wheeling Jesuit

WHEELING, W.Va. -  The Concord University women's basketball team fell 92-61 on the road at Wheeling Jesuit in Mountain East Conference action on Saturday afternoon inside the McDonough Center.

Concord falls to 2-11, (1-7 MEC), while Wheeling Jesuit improves to 13-2 with an 8-1 mark in MEC play.

A 14-2 run by the Cardinals to open the game helped WJU take control of the tempo early on before a Concord timeout. WJU continued the momentum out of the timeout to take a 25-4 lead with 3:38 left in the first quarter before junior guard Danielle Catron made a jump shot to stop the run for the Cardinals.

WJU took a 54-33 lead into halftime.

The Cardinals eventually earned a 92-61 win after controlling much of the second half.

Catron finished with a game-high 21 points, continuing her scoring streak just one game after she scored 22 points off of the bench against Urbana.  Senior guard Olivia Morgan and junior center Alley Odell each added eight points.

Concord returns to action on Monday with a 4:30 p.m. tip at West Liberty
