MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU is 5-9 overall and 1-7 in the MEC.
Meanwhile, both West Liberty and Wheeling Jesuit are 13-1 overall and 7-1 against league foes.
The Hilltoppers are ranked fourth in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II Poll while WJU is slotted sixth.
A FIRST FOR THE SEASON
Even though the Mountain Lions dropped a two-point decision to Urbana, 73-71, Tuesday night at the Carter Center, senior forward
Stephen Thompson collected his first career double-double by scoring 20 points and notching 12 rebounds.
It was the first double-double of the season for a CU player and the first since
Terry Hopewell and
Jametrius Wade each had double-doubles in the MEC Championship game in 2016.
Senior guard
Michael Sanchez tallied 14 points in the loss to run his consecutive games streak of 10 or more points to four.
It was the first time this season the Salinas, Puerto Rico has scored double digits four games in a row.
Furthermore, Sanchez has never put together five straight games of at least 10 points.
MILESTONE WATCH
To start the road trip, senior guard
Aaron Miller is 30 points shy of scoring 1,500 for his career.
Miller would be the 11th player in program history to notch 1,500 points in a Concord career.
By scoring 11 points against UU, the Stephens City, Virginia native passed Lewis Muse for 11th on the all-time scoring list at CU.
The last player to score 1,500 points in a Concord career was Brian Atkins (2000-04).
Miller is averaging 14.4 points per game in seven career contets versus WJU and has scored an average of 13.1 points per game in seven meetings against WLU.
When senior guard
Cam Shannon steps on the floor at WJU Saturday afternoon, it will be the 100th career appearance in a CU uniform for the Beckley, West Virginia native.
Shannon will become the first CU player to notch 100 appearance in the Maroon and Gray since Mike Boyd played in 114 contests from 2011-15.
Junior guard
B.J. Hamlet needs six makes from three-point range to amass 100 for his Mountain Lion career.
Additionally, a total of eight successful three-pointers would place Hamlet in the top 20 at Concord with 102.
In his career, Hamlet has made 17 three-pointers in nine games against West Liberty and Wheeling Jesuit including six three years ago at WLU.
THREE-POINT BARRAGE
Despite shooting just below their season average of 38.4 percent versus UU, the Mountain Lions moved into the top-spot in the MEC in three-point shooting percentage.
CU overtook Fairmont State by .02 for first in the league.
Additionally, Concord and West Liberty are tied for first in the league and tied for 15th nationally in three-pointers made per game (10.6).
Over the last four games, Concord has made 39 three-pointers.
The only other four-game stretch this season with more made three-pointers was the first four games of the campaign that featured 51 made three-pointers.
If CU continues at its current pace, the Mountain Lions will have 296 made three-pointers to end the regular season, the most ever to end a regular season in program history.
GLASS CLASH
Saturday's contest at Wheeling Jesuit will feature two of the best rebounding teams in the MEC.
WJU has the best rebounding margin in the league (+6.5) while the Mountain Lions rank fourth in the conference (+2.9).
The teams have only been separated by eight rebounds (198-190) over the last five meetings with WJU owning a 3-2 edge in winning the rebounding margin for the contests.
Of its eight league games this season, CU has only lost the battle on the boards twice.
The list includes a +10 margin with Fairmont State who at the time had a rebounding margin of +4.7 and a 43-43 draw with NDC who has a +2.9 rebounding margin.
WE MEET AGAIN
Concord and West Liberty played each other four times last season with the teams splitting the meetings.
Each team won on its home floor in the regular season. CU defeated WLU 92-90 in a double overtime instant classic at the MEC Tournament.
The Hilltoppers won the final meeting of the season, a 90-69 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament one week after the game at the league tournament.
While the rosters look differently with Hopewell,
Rob Reed,

The Mountain Lions are averaging 92.0 points per game in its last six games versus West Liberty.
Additionally, Concord has made 9.5 three pointers per game in those six contests.
SCOUTING WHEELING JESUIT
