ATHENS, W.Va- The Concord University softball team prepares for the Mountain East Conference Tournament 12:00 p.m. Friday when it takes on the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit in its first matchup of the conference tournament at the Boutetourt Sports Complex in Troutville, Virginia

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Senior catcher
Alyssa Morris and junior shortstop
Alayna Furr were both selected as first team all-conference performers in a release by the Mountain East Conference on Thursday.
Meanwhile, junior outfielder
Lauren Lewis was named an All-MEC Second Team selection for the second straight year after finishing the year with a batting average of .369 to go along with four home runs and 45 RBI.
Morris batted.343 on the season, with 11 home runs and 46 RBI.
Morris's 11 home runs put her in a tie for fourth place in the Mountain East Conference this season. Her 46 RBI were also tied for fourth.
Morris led the Mountain Lions in on base percentage, total bases, and slugging percentage in addition to her home runs and RBI.
Furr batted .402 on the season while leading the Mountain East Conference in hits for the majority of the season.
The Lovettsville, Va. native finished tied for second in the MEC in hits, one behind league-leading Brooklyn Waddell of West Virginia Wesleyan. She is also fourth in the conference in runs scored at 48.
Lewis finished fifth in the conference in doubles with 15.
In the first matchup between CU and WJU in Athens, Morris launched a home run in the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-1.
The Virginia Beach, Va. native added another RBI single in game two.
Sophomore third baseman
Alycea Watson drove in what would be the game-winning run in the fifth inning off of a two-run single that scored Furr and freshman outfielder
Lindsey Stahl.
Also in game two versus Wheeling Jesuit, eight of 10 hitters collected a hit for the Mountain Lions
The win halted WJU's 11-game winning streak and was the Cardinals only loss during a 17-game stretch.
In the Mountain East Conference Tournament last season, Concord opened up with Notre Dame College.
CU would defeat the eventual champions NDC 2-1 in the first game, with Furr and Rose collecting an RBI each.
Concord defeated Charleston in game two before falling to Notre Dame and West Virginia Wesleyan in consecutive games.
The Mountain Lions are 8-18 all-time against WJU, but 3-3 in the last six meetings.
Five of the last six meetings between CU and WJU have been decided by two runs or less.
SCOUTING WHEELING JESUIT
Much of the Cardinals offense comes through All-MEC First Team selection Cassie Holstein and MEC Freshman of the Year Molly Welsh, the duo is batting .392 and .393 respectively, with 37 RBI combined.
Holstein is tied with Furr for second in the conference in hits (70).
Kelsi Thompson leads the Cardinals in RBI with 36.
Kori Locke and Mallory Chapman lead the pitching staff for WJU, Locke heads into the matchup with an 11-5 record (2.28 ERA), while Mallory Chapman is 17-9 (2.33 ERA).
The Cardinals have won five games in a row and seven of their last eight after dropping six games in a row before that.
WJU has compiled four streaks of four or more wins in a row, including an 11-game streak spanning from March 22-April 3
rd when it lost to Concord in game two.
