MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU enters the weekend with a 17-19 mark overall and an 11-9 record in the MEC, two games behind Glenville State for second in the south division.

The Mountain Lions are coming off a 2-2 weekend at West Virginia Wesleyan in which they won games two and four of the series.

For the second time in three starts, junior pitcher Nate Werner gave the Maroon and Gray a stellar outing as he scattered seven hits and two runs over 8.1 innings to move his record to 4-4 and more importantly secure a series split.

Sophomore pitcher Reece Edwards saw significant time out of the CU bullpen as earned his first win of the season in relief of freshman pitcher Troy Beckner in game two. Edwards allowed three hits and one run in 2.2 innings.

Edwards also picked up his first save of the series and third career save as he recorded the final two outs in Werner's 5-2 win.

The Woodlawn, Virginia native moved into seventh all-time at Concord in career saves.

Senior infielder Brad Sullivan continued his steady play as he notched three RBI in a comeback victory for the Mountain Lions in game two of the series.

Sullivan has reached base in 21 consecutive games, the most for a CU player since Bret Blevins reached in 23 straight games in 2014.

Redshirt freshman outfielder Jordan Clark and senior infielder Holt Cassada came up with big hits in Concord's 5-2 series finale win.

Each player had two RBI as Clark moved into the team lead for RBI with 38.

The Mountain Lions have seven players batting .300 or better this season which ties Shepherd for the most batters over .300 in the MEC.

Sophomore infielder Chad Frazier (.386) is ranked fifth in the MEC in hitting while senior outfielder Andrew Seigel (.376) checks in at 10 and redshirt freshman Trevor Wiersma (.373) rounds out CU players in the top 15 at 11.

Seigel and Wiersma are also ranked in the top five in hits in the MEC as Seigel leads the conference with 53 hits and Wiersma is fourth with 50.

Last season, CU took all four games from the Pioneers in Glenville, West Virginia as the Mountain Lions surrendered just six runs during the whole series.

In the series, sophomore outfielder Andy Szamski had nine RBI and two multi-hit games.

Seigel combined for seven hits in four games against the Pioneers.

Werner had one of the best outings of his Concord career as gave up just two hits over six innings and fanned six hitters at Glenville State.

In his last two starts against GSC, senior pitcher Chris Kelly has surrendered three earned runs in 14 innings while striking out 11 batters.

SCOUTING GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers are 14-23 overall, but most importantly are 13-7 in the MEC.

GSC is two games clear of Concord for second place and two games behind West Virginia State for first in the MEC South.

Glenville State's Kenny Finzel is the only player for GSC hitting above .300.

This season, Finzel is batting .342 with 21 runs scored, one home run and seven RBI.

Wesley Stauffer sports a 4.43 ERA with a 4-5 record in 61.0 innings pitched.

The Pioneers are four wins away from passing last year's total of 18.
