MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord is 15-17 overall and 9-7 in the Mountain East Conference, one game ahead of WVWC in the MEC South standings.

The Mountain Lions are in a tie for second place in the MEC South with Glenville State with the top three teams advancing to the conference tournament May 12-15.
CU is coming off a four-game split at West Virginia State where the Maroon and Gray won games one and three of the series.

Redshirt freshman outfielder Jordan Clark belted two home runs during the set against the Yellow Jackets to bring his season total to six.

Clark is tied for fifth in the MEC in home runs.

With the help of Clark and redshirt freshman infielder Trevor Wiersma, who has three home runs this season, CU has already equaled its season total in home runs from last season with 13.

This season, Wiersma has 12 doubles that ranks him third in the MEC. Of those 12 two-base hits, eight of them have come in the last 13 games, a stretch that began March 23.

In the finale at WVSU, senior infielder Brad Sullivan recorded three hits for the fifth time this season, a team-high for three-hit contests.

Additionally, Sullivan needs four more hits to reach 150 for his career.

Senior outfielder Andrew Seigel collected five hits over the four games at West Virginia State to bring his career total to 234.

In the process, Seigel passed Brooks Cullen and Ryan Johnston for fifth on the all-time hits list at CU.

Senior pitcher Chris Kelly also achieved a career milestone at West Virginia State after allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits to pick up his 25th career win.

The Grundy, Virginia native tied Trey Smith for second on the all-time wins list at Concord and now trails Ryan Weatherholtz by two wins for first all-time.

Freshman pitcher Troy Beckner had his best career-outing against the two-time defending MEC Tournament champion as he limited WVSU to two hits and one run while striking out six batters.

Senior infielder Holt Cassada hit his first career home run in game three at WVSU to fuel a 10-1 win for the Mountain Lions.

Cassada added another first in the game as he notched four RBI for the first time in his career as he drove in sophomore catcher Paul Williams on the two-run home run and added a two-RBI single in the game.

In 16 conference games, sophomore infielder Chad Frazier has recorded at least two hits in seven games.

Concord and WVWC split a four-game set last season at Anderson Field with CU winning games one and three.

In a 14-8 win for Concord in game three versus the Bobcats, Concord pounded out a season-high 21 hits as Sullivan led the way with four hits.

Sophomore outfielder Andy Szamski and Williams each had three hits.

The all-time series between Concord and WVWC is tied 25-25 dating back to 1997.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
WVWC is 16-14 overall and 8-8 in the league.

The Bobcats enter this weekend as one of the hottest teams in the conference, having won seven in a row and eight of their last nine games.

Michael Logsdon powers the West Virginia Wesleyan offense, hitting a team-high .351 while also leading the team in RBI (26).
WVWC possesses several pitchers with stellar numbers including four guys with an ERA under four.

Even though he's only 1-1, Dillon Isom has an ERA of 2.35 in 30.2 innings pitched to lead the Bobcats. Chris Metrick (3.14), Riley Metz (3.40), Brandon Stratton (3.96) all sport an ERA under four.

While Isom, Metz and Stratton start for West Virginia Wesleyan, Metrick is one of the top relief pitchers in the league with 21 strikeouts in 14 innings.

Metrick is tied for the MEC lead in saves with five.
