MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU carries a 10-14 record into the weekend while it sports a 4-4 Mountain East Conference mark.

The Mountain Lions are coming off a 2-2 weekend in Ohio as they dropped a pair of 4-2 games to Notre Dame before outscoring Urbana 22-6 in a doubleheader sweep of the Blue Knights.

In a seven-game span last week, sophomore infielder Chad Frazier paced the Concord offense as he hit .481(13-for-27) with 12 runs scored, seven RBI and six extra-base hits.

Since March 21, Frazier's batting average has risen from .333 to .397, second best on the team.

More than half of redshirt freshman infielder Trevor Wiersma's RBI has come since last Monday's doubleheader against Wheeling Jesuit.

For the season, Wiersma has 22 RBI, but the Vancouver, British Columbia native recorded 13 RBI in seven games during the week, and also hit his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot against Urbana.

Along with Wiersma, redshirt freshman outfielder Jordan Clark connected on two home runs, both in the second game at Urbana to bring his season total to three.

Additionally, Clark drove in seven runs in the night cap and now has a team-leading 27 RBI to go along with his club-best three homers.

In CU's 15-3 win over UU, freshman infielder Brett Simmons swiped three stolen bases in the game and now has four for his career.

With Simmons' steals, Concord has brought its stolen base total to 20 for the year which ranks sixth in the MEC.

Against Urbana, freshman pitcher Troy Beckner tossed his first career complete game as he limited the Blue Knights to three runs on seven hits while striking out a career-high seven batters. It was the third straight game in which the Roanoke, Virginia native has had five or more strikeouts.

Last season, CU swept a four-game series from Fairmont State, but the combined score in the four games was 28-19 as Concord won a pair of one-run games as well.

In game three of the series, senior outfielder Charles Goss delivered a walk-off hit to propel Concord to a 4-3 victory.

Last season at home against FSU, senior infielder Brad Sullivan was 5-for-13 with five runs scored and four RBI. Meanwhile, senior outfielder Andrew Seigel was 6-for-14 with two RBI.

Sophomore outfielder Andy Szamski combined for four RBI in the final two games of the FSU series last season which started a streak of 22 consecutive games with a run driven in by Szamski.

In the last three games against FSU, senior infielder Holt Cassada had at least two hits in each game.

The Mountain Lions dropped three of four games against Shepherd in Clover, South Carolina last season with CU coming out victorious in the series finale.

Junior pitcher Nate Werner tossed his first career complete game as he scattered seven hits and two runs in a 6-2 Concord win.

SCOUTING FAIRMONT STATE
Fairmont State is 12-12 this season with a 3-5 MEC record.

Austin Norman powers the FSU offense with a .408 batting average. Norman has connected on eight home runs and 28 RBI.

Logan Johnson has pitched 35.1 innings with a 2-2 record and a 1.53 ERA. Additionally, Johnson has already tossed a no-hitter this year. Johnson completed his no-hitter against Caldwell March 14 as he walked just one batter and faced the minimum of 27 hitters in nine innings.

SCOUTING SHEPHERD
The Rams are 13-6 overall and are 7-1 in the league.

Shepherd's offense is led by the trio of Ron Farley, Tre Porter and J.J. Sarty.
