PRINCETON, W.Va. – Down 5-0 after one inning, the Concord University baseball team rallied back to down Bluefield State 14-9 in non-conference play at Hunnicutt Field Wednesday night.
The Mountain Lions move to 8-12 overall while BSC falls to 6-11.
Bluefield State started the game hot as it plated five runs in the bottom of the first, but also took advantage of two CU blunders in the frame.

Trevor Wiersma in the third drew CU to within 5-4.
Trailing 6-4 entering the fifth inning, the Mountain Lions had their best offensive inning of the night as they scored four runs in the frame. Wiersma once again smacked a double to bring home sophomore infielder
Chad Frazier while Williams scored on an RBI groundout by senior infielder

Brett Simmons, who scored later in the inning on a BSC error, added to the hit parade in the inning as he singled in Wiersma.
However, Bluefield State fought back to tie the game at 8-8 and 9-9 before CU scored the final five runs of the game as it plated two runs each in the seventh and eighth innings.
Senior outfielder
Charles Goss and Seigel came around to score on two more errors from BSC in the seventh while Goss and Simmons recorded RBI base hits in the eighth. A sacrifice fly from Wiersma in the ninth completed the scoring and gave the Mountain Lions their final margin of victory, 14-9.
Concord pounded out 19 hits in the gaem and has registered 39 hits in the last 18 innings of play.
Wiersma led the offensive attack as he went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, four RBI and two doubles. Frazier and Goss each had three hits in the contest as Fraizer added three runs. For Goss, it was season-high for most hits in a game.
Clark, Seigel, Simmons and Williams each had two hits in the contest.

CU embarks on a four-game road trip beginning at Notre Dame 1:00 p.m. Friday.
