BUCKHANNON, W.Va- The Concord University women's basketball team fell 83-55 on the road to West Virginia Wesleyan at the Rockefeller Center on Thursday evening.
Concord falls to 5-16 overall (3-12 MEC), while West Virginia Wesleyan improves to 5-14 overall (3-12 MEC).
The Mountain Lions could not overcome a fast start from the Bobcats as WVWC scored 22 points each in the first two quarters to garner a 20-point lead at the half., including 10 straight points to close out the first quarter. The Bobcats carried a 44-24 lead at the break.
West Virginia Wesleyan kept their foot on the pedal and scored a further 27 points in the third quarter to stall any Concord attempt at a comeback.
Concord was led in scoring by freshman guard
Emily Boothe, who scored 12 points, her ninth game scoring in double figures this season. Sophomore guard
Lindsey Overbey continued her productive play by scoring 10 points. Sophomore guard
Danielle Catron added nine points and seven rebounds while
Jenna Holton added nine points.
Concord will continue their road trip when they head to Glenville State on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m tip.
