Concord Welcomes Winston-Salem State on Sunday

ATHENS, W.VA-  The Concord University women's basketball team will look to earn its first win at home when it hosts Winston-Salem State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord enters the matchup at 1-6 on the season while Winston-Salem State is 3-6 on the year. 

SEEING DOUBLE
Senior guard Alexis Lowery has continued her strong start to the season by managing to score in double figures in every game this season. 

Lowery has scored over 10 points in all seven contests this season, extending her current streak of games in double figures to 11 games stemming back to a February 20 matchup against Notre Dame College in 2016. 

After scoring in double figures four times in the first 22 games last season, the Dandrige, Tennessee native has reached double figures in 13 of the last 14 games she has played in.

FAST START
Concord's first half against Glenville State continued a trend for CU in which they have shot over 50 percent from the field during the first half. 

In a four game stretch from CU's matchup against Bluefield State on November 15 until the GSC game, Concord shot 50 percent or higher in five of the eight quarters total played in the first half.

CAREER HIGHS FOR BOOTHE
Against the Pioneers, sophomore Emily Boothe, came off of the bench and managed to score 11 points, nab six rebounds, and add six assists in just 17 minutes of play. 

The Riner, Virginia native shot 4-for-6 from the field while making her only three point attempt.

The six rebounds and six assists were both career-highs for Boothe. 

FACING THE RAMS AT HOME
Junior guards Danielle Catron and Lindsey Overbey each scored in double figures against Winston-Salem State last season.

Catron poured in 14 points on 5-for-12 shooting, while Overbey added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Concord will look to score more than the 49 it scored last season at Winston-Salem State.

However, Concord is averaging 87 points per game at home this season. 

Scouting Winston-Salem State
Winston-Salem State enters the game on a two-game winning streak, picking up wins over Clark Atlanta and Voorhees. 

The Rams are 0-4 in road contests this season. 

WSSU is averaging 60.8 points per game this season.

Tiana Edwards is the only Ram averaging double figures for WSSU this season, scoring 10 points per game.
