MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
CU is 4-4 overall.

Virginia Union is off to a 7-3 start while Bluefield State is 1-8 on the season.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Senior guard Aaron Miller starts the week ranked fourth in the Mountain East Conference in scoring at 20.3 points per game.

Miller has scored in double figures in every game this season and has scored 20 or more points on four occasions this season.

By making four three-pointers in Concord's last game at West Virginia Wesleyan, Miller surpassed 200 made three-pointers for his career and now has 202.

The Stephens City, Virginia native is closing in on 500 made field goals in his time in the Maroon and Gray.

Miller has made 499 total shots in his career.

Miller would become just the second CU player with both 500 made shots and 200 made three-pointers in a career, joining Todd Lusk who made 727 field goals and 385 shots from behind the arc.

The last player to make 500 shots in a career at Concord was Tyrone Anderson during the 2006-07 season. A total of 14 players have 500 made shots in their CU career.

SHARING IS CARING
The Mountain Lions are tied for fifth in the MEC in assists per game with 17.0.

CU has gone over 20 assists in a game three times this season including in its latest home game against Glenville State.

Concord has assisted on 58.8 percent of its shots this season (136 assists on 231 field goals).

Only four other teams in the MEC have a higher assist rate: Notre Dame, Shepherd, West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit.

CU hasn't left the passing up to its point guards, sophomore Tommy Bolte and senior Michael Sanchez.

Excluding Bolte and Sanchez, Concord has received nine games of three or more assists from five other players, junior guard B.J. Hamlet (one), Miller (two), junior forward Babe Murphy (three), senior guard Cam Shannon (two) and senior forward Stephen Thompson (one).

Bolte has four games of four assists while Sanchez has registered four assists or more in five contests. Sanchez is seventh in the MEC in assists per game (4.5).

CHARITY STRIPE SUCCESS
CU is sixth in the conference in free throw shooting percentage (.737).

However, the Mountain Lions are on pace for their best success from the foul line since the 2010-2011 season when they shot 73.7 percent from the charity stripe.

If the Mountain Lions do finish the season above 70 percent from the free-throw line, it only be the third time since the start of the decade that a Concord team shot 70 percent from the foul line for an entirety of a season.

Furthermore, CU is shooting 70.4 percent at the foul line for the first 37 minutes of games this season, but that number jumps to 82.8 percent in the final three minutes of the game and overtime. Sanchez (8-for-8) and Thompson (5-for-5) are perfect at the charity stripe in clutch situations.

FIRST MEETING WITH VIRGINIA UNION
Concord will square off against Virginia Union for the first time in program history.

The Panthers are a member of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association  (CIAA).

The Mountain Lions have had success against teams from the CIAA in the past. Concord has won nine of it last 12 games against CIAA members.

Against teams from the state of Virginia, Concord is 7-3 in its last 10 games, and has won five games in a row versus teams from the Old Dominion.

A RIVARLY RENEWED
For the second time this season, the Mountain Lions and Bluefield State will meet on the hardwood.

On November 28, CU defeated the Blues 71-59 at the Ned Shott Gymnasium in Bluefield, West Virginia. Miller led the way for Concord with 16 points.

Sanchez (13) and Shannon (10) each had, at the time, season-highs in points.

Hamlet added 10 points off the bench while Thompson provided eight points and 10 rebounds.

Thompson's 10 boards was the only time this season a CU player has had double-digit rebounds in a contest.

CU held Bluefield State to 35.5 percent shooting (24-for-64). In the last five meetings, Concord has held BSC to 38.6 percent shooting (122-for-316).

Over that same time span, the Maroon and Gray is outrebounding BSC by an average margin of 6.2 rebounds per contest.

The largest rebounding margin for CU was earlier this season when Concord owned a 46-34 advantage on the boards.

Along with Thompson's 10 rebounds, Shannon added a season-high six boards and freshman forward Patrick Eugene had a career-high six.

Over his last five games against the Blues, Miller is averaging 20.2 points per game, and is shooting 53.0 percent (35-for-66) from the floor.

Since the MEC was formed prior to the 2013-2014 season, the Mountain Lions are 5-2 against Bluefield State. Overall, CU is 57-36 all-time versus BSC.

SCOUTING VIRGINIA UNION
Virginia Union won its last game on a shot with one second left as it defeated Shaw 77-75 Saturday.

Ray Anderson leads the Panthers in scoring with 21.2 points per game.

John Mitchell is posting near double-double numbers per contest with 8.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

VUU is outrebounding its opponents by more than eight rebounds per contest (41.3-33.0).

SCOUTING BLUEFIELD STATE
BSC lost two games over the weekend at the Manchin Classic in Salem, West Virginia.

The Blues lost both to MEC foes in Charleston and West Virginia State. Bluefield State's lone win of the season came away from Shott Gymnasium as it downed Tuskegee at the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Tournament.

Josh Windhasm is leading Bluefield State in scoring at 14.1 points per game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
1- Miller is the only guard in the MEC ranked in top five in field goal percentage.

8- Concord is one of eight teams in the MEC averagining 80 or more points per game.

45- Only one of CU's last 10 non-conference opponents has shot better than 45 percent from the field (J.C. Smith, Nov. 2015).
