FAIRMONT, W.Va-Â The Concord University women's basketball team dropped an 87-56 decision to Clarion in non-conference action at Joe Retton Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Concord drops to 0-2, while Clarion improves to 1-1 on the year.Â

After battling closely with the Golden Eagles in the first quarter trailing 15-11, Clarion used a 28-15 run in the second quarter to extend the lead to 43-26 at halftime.Â

Danielle Catron closed the gap to 54-36 with 4:46 remaining in the third quarter. However, Clarion closed the quarter on an 11-3 run to take control heading into the fourth quarter.Â

Heather Chapman both reached double figures for the Mountain Lions with ten points, while junior guard
Alexis Lowery added 11 points. Chapman also finished two rebounds shy of a double-double grabbing eight boards in just over 26 minutes played.Â
Concord continues its nonconference slate when it plays on Tuesday at Bluefield State. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.    Â
