ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Fairmont State Saturday afternoon at the Carter Center.
The Mountain Lions lost 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 in the match.
In the first set, Concord (17-15, 8-8 MEC) battled with Fairmont State (19-12, 11-5) in the beginning as the set was tied 12-12. The set remained tight as it was tied at 16, 17 and 18. But the Fighting Falcons finished on a 7-3 run to take the set, 25-21.
In the second set, the Mountain Lions were trailing 11-10 after a kill from sophomore middle hitter
Brooke Heck. FSU scored the next five points to grab a 16-10 lead and won the set by seven.

Alexi Pranckus. Later in the set, Concord tied the game up at 13-13 after a kill from redshirt freshman outside hitter
Ellie Lawrence. The Fighting Falcons took a timeout and proceeded to go on a 6-0 run and take the set and the match.
Heck finished with 10 kills and a .588 hitting percentage on the afternoon. Pranckus notched eight kills. Junior setter
Casey Mandeville handed out 22 assists while sophomore libero
Erin Shannon had 14 digs.
The Mountain Lions earned the seven seed in next week's Mountain East Conference Tournament. CU will oppose Charleston 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the McDonough Center on Wheeling Jesuit's campus.
