WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team was eliminated in the first round of the Mountain East Conference Tournament as Charleston defeated the Mountain Lions in three sets.
CU (17-16) lost 25-19, 25-14, 25-16 to Charleston (25-12).
Sophomore middle hitter
Brooke Heck led Concord with 10 kills and did not commit an error in the first two sets as the Huntington, West Virginia native hit .571 in the match.
Junior setter
Casey Mandeville collected 14 of her 17 assists in the first two sets while sophomore libero
Erin Shannon notched 10 of her 11 digs in the first two games versus Charleston.
Redshirt freshman outside hitter
Ellie Lawrence helped the Mountain Lions to a fast start by recording four of her six kills in the first set. Sophomore outside hitter
Alexi Pranckus collected seven kills for the Maroon and Gray.
Thursday marked the last collegiate match for junior middle hitter
Alexis Elliott, junior libero
Nicci Hutzell and junior outside hitter
Lisette Roldan.
By winning 17 matches, Concord tallied its second most wins under head coach
Kate Southcott that goes back to 2009.
