SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va- The Concord University men's soccer team earned a 4-1 win at Shepherd in Mountain East Conference action on Sunday afternoon.
Concord improves to 5-7 (3-6 MEC) on the season while Shepherd falls to 1-0 on the season (0-7 MEC).
The Mountain Lions faced an early deficit after Jeff Kammerer netted a goal for the Rams in the 13
th minute.
However, the Mountain Lions would respond with two quick goals in the 35
th and 38
th minute. The first goal came courtesy of junior midfielder
Max Simpson, who netted from an assist by freshman defender
Pedro Bassin.

Sam Ashton converted a penalty kick just three minutes later to give the Mountain Lions the lead going into halftime at 2-1.

Yacouba Issa Traore scored a header to net Concord's third goal while senior defender
Jared Garlow rounded out the scoring by notching his first goal of the season. he goals came in the 63
rd and 69
th minute.
Both second half goals came courtesy of passes by Simpson.
Concord outshot the Rams 21-10 overall, with the Concord backline holding steady allowing just two shots on target over 90 minutes.
Freshman goalkeeper
James Sinclair earned his second win of the season in goal.
Ashton scored his sixth goal of the season, while Simpson's goal and assists give the Huntington, West Virginia native four goals and five assists on the season. Traore's goal is his fourth of the season.
The Mountain Lions have now scored 22 goals this season, more than double of their total output of 2015.
CU returns to action when it travels to Wheeling, West Virginia for an MEC contest against Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 P.M.
